TFS Trial Form Support AB and Karolinska University Hospital prolong their early drug development collaboration.

TFS Trial Form Support (TFS) and Karolinska University Hospital have as of December 2004 prolonged their collaboration as regards early pharmaceutical studies in phase I until 2007. This partnership is for early phase I pharmaceutical studies.

10 clinical phase I studies have been conducted at the research unit KCR Karolinska University Hospital since the collaboration was started and has included pharmaceutical and biotechnical companies from USA and Europe, with most of the leading biotech players in Scandinavia. "We have in a professional manner managed to integrate our operative and administrative routines during the first year of our collaboration and in doing so created one of Europe's main alternatives for the conduct and support of phase I studies. This has been reflected very favourably in the number of orders in our back-log for 2005 and we plan to run about 15 phase I studies this year." says Daniel Spasic, CEO at TFS.

The partnership has given further evidence for how successfully industry, healthcare and academia in Sweden can work together to create a better and healthier life for patients who need new innovative drugs for their diseases. "The partnership has been extremely beneficial and has resulted in quality issues in early pharmaceutical research being highlighted and improved within our organisation." says Pierre Lafolie, Associate Professor and head of the department at KCR. "The award for entrepreneur of the year which TFS received last year proves that we have chosen the right partner for future development." The partnership between TFS and KCR Karolinska has this year attracted international awareness and there has been a lot of interest from research driven pharmaceutical companies in Europe, Asia and the USA about the unit and Sweden as a nation for research.

TFS Trial Form Support International AB has its head office in Sweden and works in clinical contract research and conducts clinical trials in phase I to IV for customers from the pharmaceutical, biotechnical and medical technical industries. TFS is represented in 9 different locations in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, the UK, the Baltics and Russia. TFS has 120 employees with expertise in clinical research.

Karolinska Clinical Research - trial and support centre (KCR) within Karolinska University Hospital is a unit that supports research around pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and treatment.
